H.A.S. Treatment at d'skin

Facials - a necessity or an indulgence?  Very debatable.

After having children, I find it hard to schedule facial appointments.  (ya, ya, ya excuses~~~)  Sometimes, apart from thinking that it is a necessity (when it works for the skin), it is also a form of "me" time.  I can sleep, rest, and let the skin therapists work their wonders on my skin.

And I think d'skin therapists did a good job in making me feel relax while I was there for their H.A.S Treatment.

d'skin, one of the leading skin treatment centres in Singapore, uses Soft Plus, a standalone PC-powered skin assessment system that is able to track the skin's pH level on top of other indicators like hydration, sebum and so on.

Here I am, being "analysed" for hydration and sebum.  At the same time, the skin therapist explain the process and the outcome.

And oh my gosh!  Dehydrated skin - red alert!

Based on the results, I was recommended the H.A.S. Treatment (120 minutes, $288 before GST).  Hyaluronic Acid, which holds over a thousand times of its weight in water, provides maximum hydration for the skin and this treatment hydrates and preserves the skin's youth.

A very simple treatment room with dimmed lights and relaxing music played in the background, it is actually very easy to fall asleep, especially after a long day at work.

You see... this is one thing best done by someone who has the expertise.  A good thorough cleanse of the face with suitable strength strokes and presses at the correct places during the facial session.

Depending on the skin conditions, the correct kind of masks will be applied.  I had a purifying face mask to remove the white and blackheads and it was scary to actually see those "dots" on the mask when they removed it.

Using a range of high-grade equipment, each treatment is to help customers achieve optimum skin health.  For H.A.S. treatments, specific wave lengths is delivered to the skin to stimulate and activate serum absorption processes deep within the skin layers, in a non-invasie and painless way.

The H.A.S. treatment is supposed to retard the aging process of skin and smooth out wrinkles and other fine lines on the skin, particularly on the forehead and lower eyelids.

Extractions were carried out by experienced skin therapists and if you are thinking that the skin will be red and blotchy, let me tell you that I did not encounter any of that.  A mask at the end of the session calms down the skin and yes, I manage to head out after that.

The skin therapist shared that I should apply my own hydration masks after the session on an alternate day basis while my skin condition was at its optimum absorption level.  Of course I have to heed her advice!

With a range of skincare treatments, from anti-ageing to pigmentation concerns, hydration issues to pore reduction, d'skin outlets are located at Heartland Mall, Toa Payoh Central, Novena Square and Seletar Mall.  Having been to different facials for the past years, I can say that the skin therapists in d'skin know their stuff.  And I enjoyed the face massage thoroughly - something not many skin treatment centres' skin therapists do well.

So, if you are thinking of a me-time that not only do good to your skin and well-being (think: rest and  sleep), book an appointment with d'skin for a facial treatment session now~~~

Faith in Face - The No. 1 Hydrogel Mask Brand in Korea is Here!

Recently, I received 3 different hydrogel masks from Sample Store.  And these are masks that are Made in Korea!  They are none other than the No. 1 Hydrogel Mask Brand in Korea - Faith in Face!

Hydrogel masks, unlike regular microfibre and cotton sheet masks, contain a high percentage of water soluble ingredients to deliver maximal hydration and superior skin rejuvenation.  The word hydration makes me look at it twice, thrice because that is what I need.  And if you do not know, I understand that masks are the quickest and most instantaneous ways to perk up the skin.

Using these masks is easy.  After cleansing, remove the thinner protective film from both the top and bottom masks to expose the smooth surface.

Look at that essence on my fingers!
As you can see, there are little cubes and that is the textured surface.  Be sure to apply the smooth side of the mask to the face.

The mask will fit the curves of the face and because it is a 2-piece mask, it makes it easy to put on.  Then rest and relax for 30 minutes!

The After Shower Look Hydrogel Mask contains Hyaluronic Acid which has intense hydration and moisture retention capabilities.  I can see that the skin after the mask does not look as dry.  Cool!

So now for the Black and White Film Star Hydrogel Mask.  Although the photo for the "before" skin shows a whiter face (blame the light), you will actually realise that my skin brightens at a closer look.  I believe with constant use of this mask, the effects will show in the near future.

The Nourish Me Hydrogel Mask contains a special formulation that provides the ultimate nourishment for the skin.  No significant effect on my skin can be seen but I do hope it is those 'work behind the scene' mask, nourishing and strengthening my skin.

My personal preference will be that of After Shower Look Hydrogel Mask.  Who doesn't like an after shower look?! And the hydration properties of it is what I need currently, especially with this hazy weather.

Faith in Face also carries 2 other different kind of mask:

- Hold Me Tight Hydrogel Mask : a lifting and firming mask
- Miss Invisible Pore Hydrogel Mask : a pore tightening mask

Exclusively available at Watsons, each pack of 3 of the same masks retails at $14.50. There are 5 different variants available and only at Watsons, remember!

{Media Invite} Food Styling & Mobile Photography Workshop

I attended the Food Styling & Mobile Photography Workshop organised by Bosch Home Appliances and Bloesem last week and can you tell my excitement?!

Conducted at Bosch Experience Centre, a fully equipped kitchen (a to-die-for kitchen), we had lots of props to play around with and even real food prepared by Chef John See, a Bosch ambassador using the latest Series 8 oven and the new MaxxiMUM kitchen machine (I want this!).

Styled by Chef John, it seems effortless for him to put up such a nice piece.  While it seems so hard for me...  okay, practice makes perfect so I shall try harder.

All photos taken on this blog is by my iPhone (it's a mobile photography workshop yea?).  One of the tips that actually many of us know, light is everything.  More importantly, natural, soft day light for that perfect shot.

Done up by the ladies from Bloesem, doesn't the sandwiches look so appetising?

My first try... Apart from styling the actual product, you can also show the creative process, tell a story by using the items that are used for the final food item.  Can you tell the story?

A very delicious butter cupcake.  My second attempt trying to show the mango sauce dripping... And that impromptu heart shape, do you see it?

The many different kinds of 'ornaments' for decorating cakes.  So so pretty.

With the gorgeous people at the workshop.  Thank you Bosch and Bloesem for having me!

Ending the post with yet another attempt.   Playing with different backgrounds, different bowls.  Food styling is hard work and I am appreciating it even more now.

If you are interested in such workshops, there are two more sessions to be conducted in November and December 2015.  Take a look here.  I am sure you will be totally inspired.

Bioré UV AQUA Rich Watery Gel SPF50+ PA++++

Do you know that only 30% of women between the age of 12 and 49 years old use a sunscreen daily?  Are you one of the 30% or 70%?  I fall into the category of both.  Haha.

I use a sunscreen on my face daily.  But, I hardly use any on my limbs although I expose them as much to the sun on a daily basis.

Why?  Because I hated the feeling I had with most sunscreen tried - sticky and uncomfortable.  Till I tried this BiorĂ© UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel by Kao.

With the highest level of UV protection recognised in the industry - SPF50+ and PA++++ rating, BiorĂ©' UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel can be used both on the face and body, meaning one gets to be protected from the damaging UV rays from head to toe.  And the light and watery texture is why it is well received and loved by women for it feels cool and refreshing upon application.  No kidding!

I did a comparison of a sunscreen that I have at home with Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel and you can immediately see the difference in the product texture.

Upon application, I can feel that the texture of BiorĂ© UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel is smooth.  From what I understand, that is because it contains the breakthrough Aqua Micro Capsule - a water capsule which breaks upon application on skin to release the UV protection agent while giving the skin a cool and refreshed feeling.  And yes, not sticky at all!

After minutes of walking around...  You know how some sunscreen not only leave a greasy and sticky feeling, but also a white cast.  How am I going to walk out of the house like that?!  Look at the Aqua Rich Watery Gel!  Nothing!  In fact, it brightens and whitens the skin for a glowing appearance.  For that and also because it is infused with hyaluronic acid and citrus extract to keep skin hydrated and fresh, I believe it is perfect for me as a body sunscreen although it is also suitable for use as a make-up base.

How often do we we put lots of sunscreen for the children when we are at outdoors or at the playground but totally neglect ourselves?  This shall be the sunscreen to use when I am outdoors now and which I will not go eeeeeeeeeks.

Retailing at S$18.90 for a 90ml bottle, it is available at all leading pharmacies, super and hyper markets, departmental stores, beauty stores and selected minimarts.

Disclosure: I was sponsored with a bottle of the product by The Sample Store for the purpose of this review.  No monetary compensation was received.  Terms and product information were about the product were provided by them   All photographs and opinions are true to my own.
